Council certifies election results

Tuesday morning, a quorum of the Jacksonville City Council unanimously certified the Aug. 26 election results. All members of the council were present except Charles Notar, who was assisting the Red Cross with Hurricane Gustav evacuees.
Margaret’s closes its doors after 35 years

The Center of Hope Thrift Store is slowly moving out of Jacksonville. A new location opened in Oxford on U.S. 78 on Aug. 30, but the church will keep workers at the Jacksonville store until all merchandise is gone from that location.
