Eagles’ pick up area wins in soccer

Jacksonville’s boys and girls soccer teams both picked up wins in their first area games of the season as the boys defeated Crossville 3-1 and the girls defeated Crossville 10-0 with the mercy rule.

Josh Willis scored first for the Golden Eagles as his shot hit the back post and deflected into the goal. Tyler Cunningham also scored in the first half on an assist by Jordan Vanderbleek.

In the second half it was Joe Ferguson scoring on a penalty kick in the 76th minute. Ferguson was in goal for the Eagles.

The boys will play Crossville again tonight at home at 5:30.

The Lady Eagles won 10-0 on the mercy rule with 40 seconds left. Both Sharon Osterbind and Lakken Wood scored the hat trick. Kelsey Cain and Ashleigh Manuel both accounted for three assists.

Osterbind scored two goals unassisted and one goal on an assist by Cain.

Wood scored on two goals that were assisted by Manuel and one goal that was assisted by Sharon Osterbind. Poe and Kaila Green also scored two goals. Poe was assisted on one goal by Manuel, the other by Cain. Green scored one goal unassisted, the other goal on an assist by Cain.

Green was in goal for Jacksonville the first half, Allison Judge the second.
