Funeral service for Lela McGinnis Reaves, 64, was at 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010, at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bob Ford and Brandon Pisacrita officiating. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery. Mrs. Reaves died Monday, January 25, 2010, at The Meadows of Jacksonville.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Cochran and her husband, Carl, of Jacksonville and Teresa Aguilar and her husband, Michael, of Anniston; a special friend, Mary Wagoner; a son, Matthew Reaves and his fiancÈ’, Brandi Pate, of Jacksonville; three sisters, Wanda McCaskill, of Anniston, Patsy Venable, of Bleeker and Sally Raines, of Seale; two brothers, Mark McGinnis, of Jacksonville and Jim McGinnis, of North Carolina; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Heath Venable, Aaron Wade, Dell Wagoner, Mike Aguilar, Wendall McGinnis, Carl Cochran, Dewayne Kiker and Michael Abernathy.
Mrs. Reaves was an avid doll collector, loved to work crossword puzzles and go to yard sales and loved to read Cassie Edwards novels. She loved all children and was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tonya Wade and the staff at The Meadows of Jacksonville Assisted Living and to Shirley Keller and Hope Hospice. Mrs. Reaves was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Reaves; her parents, Drennen and Margaret McGinnis; a sister, Lanoel Brogdon and brothers, Doug, Royce and Donald McGinnis.
