Earlier in the week the Lady Eagles weren't as fortunate as they just missed beating Saks in a 60-59 thriller and lost at Alexandria 62-42.
Jacksonville (8-9, 1-4), which played against Southside last night (results unavailable), will play its last area game and home game of the season in a makeup game with Hokes Bluff on Wednesday night, and then will be on the road Thursday at White Plains and Friday at Weaver.
Jacksonville jumped out to an early 12-0 lead at Oxford and were never challenged. The Lady Eagles had a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter behind the scoring of Lakken Wood, Malikka Nation, Megan Snider and Kenyatta Ervin.
Jacksonville, still playing without the services of second leading scorer, post player Sharon Osterbind ,who was injured in the county tournament, had a lot of help underneath by Ervin and Nation.
Snider led the scoring with 14 points, to include four 3's, Ervin ended with 13 points, Lacey Buchanon 11, Wood four and Nation had three points.
The night before the Oxford game had the opposite results for Jacksonville as they went down in defeat 62-42 to Alexandria in an area game.
Snider had 18 points for the Lady Eagles, again with four 3-pointers, Buchanon added 16, Nation eight, Ervin six and Wood, 2.
Jacksonville opened up the week with a near miss at Saks, losing 60-59. Saks was just two days removed from having won the Calhoun County championship.
Saks held a slim one point margin over the Lady Eagles at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Eagles tied things up 32-32 at the half.
Jacksonville had the nod at the end of the third quarter, 42-41 but in a wild fourth quarter Jacksonville tied up the game on a 3-pointer by Buchanon.
Saks came down the court and was fouled and went to the line, making one. Buchanon raced down the court on the missed free throw, dodging in and out of traffic and laid the ball up, but it rolled off the rim.
Buchanon, who was 9-for-10 from the foul line finished with 22 points. Ervin and Snider both had 12 points and Wood, 3-for-3 from the field and 3-for-3 from the line had nine points. Nation contributed four points for Jacksonville.
