Saturday's game in the Calhoun County Tournament will go down as one the top meetings.
Freshman Abby Jaskowski was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in overtime to send the Thunder to a 52-49 victory. All of her shots came in the final 21.9 seconds.
"That was huge," JCA coach Tommy Miller told The Star. "For a freshman to step up and handle that pressure was really big. She did a good job."
The winner of today's game between Ohatchee and Weaver will decide who the Thunder gets in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
While it was Jaskowski who came through at the end in the clutch, it was JCA usual standout that got them to the extra period. With 44.1 seconds remaining in overtime, Thunder standout Katy Miller sank two free throws to send the game into overtime.
Miller finished with 21 points, and Jaskowski had 12. Kandace Postell added 10 points.
The win by JCA, which featured 18 lead changes, avenged an earlier loss by the Thunder. Donoho had beaten Jacksonville Christian 57-52 on the first game of the new year, Jan. 4.
