The Golden Eagles of Jacksonville led from start to finish as they beat Piedmont on the road 63-52.

Jacksonville (11-5, 3-1) has been seeded No. 3 in the Calhoun County basketball tournament and was to have played No. 14 seed Ohatchee Monday night. Results were unavailable at press time. [slideshow]

The Eagles used what has been giving them the most success in their wins, a tenacious full court defense. Jacksonville is quickly becoming known for their all-out efforts on defense.

Jacksonville jumped ahead 16-8 after one period of play and went into the locker room with a 27-21 lead.

While the second half was closer, the Eagles outscored Piedmont 17-16 in the third quarter and 19-15 in the fourth quarter to garner the win.

The Eagles had three players in double figures, Ethan Maske led with 24 points, Tristan Garmon had a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds and Robert Quinn chipped in 10 points.

Jacksonville was 11-for-13 from the foul line.

Piedmont also had two players in double figures as Jamaal Johnson had 18 points and nine rebounds and Christian Cantrell had 16 points.
