A memorial service for Wayne Nathaniel Wright was at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Emmanuel Holiness Church in Jacksonville with Terry Estes officiating. Mr. Wright died Monday, December 28, 2009, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 49 years, Glenda Wright, of Jacksonville; four children, Johnny Wright, Donna Wright, Rebecca Johnson and husband, Michael Johnson, of Jacksonville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Heather Wright, Shane Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, and Jeremy Johnson, all of Jacksonville. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Minnie Bell Wright; mother and father-in-law, Furman and Mary Ella Estes; two brothers, James Wright and Coley Wright and two sisters, Mary Reynolds and Willie Reynolds.
Mr. Wright was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. He was retired from Anniston Army Depot after 30 years service. He was a retired minister and pastor of 47 years. Mr. Wright was the pastor of several churches in Alabama and Georgia as well as ministering in a number of foreign countries. One of Mr. Wright's greatest accomplishments and pride was his work at Faith Temple Christian Center and School. He was instrumental in the construction and maintenance of the high school and gymnasium. He was an avid woodworker and loved working with his hands. He and his wife spent many joyful hours in his shop working on projects for friends and neighbors. Mr. Wright was a very giving person who even in death wanted to help others. His body was donated to Alabama Organ Center in Birmingham.
