The Calhoun County Tournament is on the horizon, and you can make out the Thunder.

Among the top half of the 15 teams is Jacksonville Christian's girls. The Lady Thunder stands with a 11-5 record and hold the No. 7 seed.

Sure, it's a daunting task to make it to the title game, but it's not impossible that Jacksonville Christian can make some noise.

Near the top is No. 2 seed Ohatchee, which JCA opened the season with, falling by only 10 points.

However, to do well in the Calhoun County Tournament the Lady Thunder must solve the problems that haunted them in its own holiday tournament. In the first round of the JCA Holiday Classic, Jacksonville Christian fell to Mount Zion 52-29.

Katy Miller was held to a very uncharacteristic eight points in the loss. Miller rebounded the next night, in a 58-44 win over rival Donoho, with a strong 23-point, 13-rebound double-double.

White Plains

The Lady Wildcats did not compete in any tournaments in this recent holiday season. They will take on Woodland, Piedmont and Weaver this week before the Calhoun County Tournament begins.

White Plains was seeded 12th out of the 15 county teams, having scored both of its two wins over county teams, Weaver and Faith Christian.

Pleasant Valley

The Lady Raiders scored the last of the single-digit seeds for the upcoming Calhoun County tournament, scoring the ninth seed with a record of 6-10.

While Pleasant Valley didn't fare real well in the holiday tournament season, there was more to it than wins and losses. It was more about the luck of the draw.

Pleasant Valley defeated Faith Christian 55-40, however in the following two games in the Van Deerman Classic, the Lady Raiders drew Ohatchee and Piedmont. Those two schools were recently seeded second and third, respectively, in the Calhoun County Tournament. Pleasant Valley lost those two games by 11 and 25 points.
