The Jacksonville Lady Eagles hadn't played in a game situation for a long time when they took on Saks at home last Saturday and it showed.

It had been 10 days since the Lady Eagles played some of their best basketball of the year as they beat Piedmont to win the Van Deerman Classic, and it took them three quarters to warm up against Saks.

The Lady Eagles (6-6, 1-3) fell to the Wildcats 46-34 in a game that was 41-19 after three quarters.

Jacksonville managed only four points in the entire third quarter of play.

Jacksonville kept the score respectable during the first quarter as Lacey Buchannon scored four points and Lakken Wood two as Saks went ahead 14-6.

Saks outscored the Lady Eagles 19-9 in the second quarter and then had a 41-19 lead at the end of three.

Jacksonville appeared to be playing sluggish, missing on shots that were normally made. Buchannon, Jacksonville's leading scorer, was limited to just nine points, all in the first half.

The Lady Eagles seemed to warm up in the fourth quarter as Sharon Osterbind scored eight points.

Osterbind finished the game with 14 points. However, the Saks lead was just too much for Jacksonville to overcome as they took the loss to even their record at 6-6.

Also scoring for the Lady Eagles were Kenyatta Erwin with four points, Megan Snider with three, and Malikka Nation and Lakken Wood each scored two points.

Jacksonville will take on Hokes Bluff at home on Friday night before participating in the Calhoun County Tournament at JSU.

The Lady Eagles, seeded fifth in the tournament, will take on No. 12 seed White Plains Monday at 4 p.m.
