The Jacksonville High School boys' and girls' cross country teams both qualified for the state meet based on their performances in the sectional meet in Trussville last weekend. The state meet will be in Moulton on Saturday.
The Jacksonville boys placed first with 17 points (15 points is a perfect score). Fairview placed second with 44 points. The Jacksonville girls placed second in the girls' race with 30 points. Fairview placed first with 25 points.
Jacksonville's boys and their 5K times were Deonte Elston (18:51.20), Benjamin Pryor (18:51.60), Micah Shelvin (20:02.54), Troy Garrick (20:13.00), Jordan Shelvin (20:26.47), Andrew Sandberg (20:42.54), Alex Rowan (20:44.09), Jervan Cowden (21:26.67), Taylor Bellin (21:37.80) and Clark Sides (21:46.99).
Jacksonville's girls and their 5K times were Sharon Osterbind (23:57.58), Madison Murray (25:35.04), Ariana Johnson (25:43.18), Angel Kidd (28:10.86), Morgan Young (28:19.87) and Stephanie Spoon (33:35.98).
