Funeral services for Ethel M. Ford, 75, were Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with Pastor Ellis Ford and Carter Jones officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery. Ms. Ford died Friday, October 16, 2009, at Jacksonville Health and Rehab. She is survived by her sisters, Dora Mattox and Lola Turner, both of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Cecil Turner, Paul Turner, Scott Potter, Matt Young, Josh Turner and Doug Ford. Ms. Ford was a member of Jacksonville Church of God. She loved to spend her free time at the Jacksonville Senior Center, where she was an active member. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and Sadie Mae Ford; one sister, Shirley Ford and two brothers, William C. Ford and John H. Ford. Memorial services for Eileen Mae Hymer, 81, were held Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with the Revs. John Simmons and Ted Anderson officiating. K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directing services. Mrs. Hymer died Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Jacksonville Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Hymer, of Jacksonville; a son, Charles D. Hymer, of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Kathleen Hymer Ricks and her husband, Robert Stephen Ricks, of Millbrook; a grandson, Robert Stephen Ricks Jr.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Hymer, of Grand Junction, Colo.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Marilou Pippenger Hymer, of Overland Park, Kan.; numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Eileen was born January 12, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa to Joseph O'Donnell and Blanche Rumsey O'Donnell. She married Robert Charles Hymer on June 19, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville where she belonged to the Friendship Sunday School Class and took part in JOY (Jacksonville Older Youth). She also participated in several Bible study groups and belonged to the Women's Circle. She enjoyed many civic and women's clubs, including Red Hat Society, Garden Club of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Needlepoint Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Blanche O'Donnell; aunts and uncles, Faa Ross and Luella Rumsey Ross (who adopted her after the age of 10) and Sam Rinkus and Beatrius Rumsey Rinkus.
