HICKS

Memorial services for Carl Nelson Hicks, 77, were held October 9, 2009, at the Weaver First United Methodist Church with The Rev. Mike Brinkman officiating. Mr. Hicks died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Hicks; two daughters, Cathy (Cecil) Ponder and Carlene Conroe; one son, Marvin Hicks; three sisters, Francis Dingler, Henrietta Hicks and Ruth Wallace; four brothers, Jerry (Linda) Hicks, Wayne (Lillie) Hicks, Kenneth (Carolyn) Hicks and Curtis Hicks; seven grandchildren, Lee (Gina) Ponder, Carl (Beverly) Ponder, Brandon (Melanie) Ponder, Alan (Brandy) Heath, Joshua Hicks, Katie (fiancé, Chris Couch) Ponder and Kayla Hicks; 10 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hicks was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in the U.S Air Force for 10 years and was a Korean War veteran. He was preceded in death by his son, Wendal Hicks; and his first wife, Glendon Hicks. Online condolences may be sent to the family at: www.klbrownfuneralhome.com.

HOWARD

Graveside memorial service for Judy Faye Howard, 60, will be Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Seven Springs Cemetery. Ms. Howard died Friday, October 9, 2009, at RMC in Anniston. She is survived by her mother, Faye Howard Williams, of Jacksonville; daughter, Tammi (Brent) Farmer, of Corsicana, Texas; two sons, Dennis Dunagan, of Jacksonville and Greg (fiance, Andrea Vineyard) Dunagan, of Anniston; two sisters, Peggy (Aubrey) Cross, of Jacksonville and Joanne (Randy) Harcrow, of Piedmont; two grandsons, Dakota and Joseph Farmer, both of Corsicana, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

OWENS

Funeral services for Donnie H. Owens, 50, were Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the K L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Jesse Barksdale officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Owens died Monday, October 5, 2009 at his residence.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia Owens, of Jacksonville; his mother, Catherine Bass; two sons, Donnie "Kyle" Owens, of Saks and Logan Owens, of Jacksonville; two sisters, Frankie Whaley, of Jacksonville and Elaine Harkins and her husband Steve, of Bon Aire, GA; one brother, Lamar Bass and his wife Betty, of Jacksonville; one grandchild, Rylie Owens of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, "Babee." Pallbearers were Steve Harkins, Mike Cater, Dennis Griffin, Nelson Mahaffey, David Roper and Chuck Nannie.

Mr. Owens was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he loved spending time with his granddaughter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carla Dingler for all of her help.
