Mountain Brook 72, Lee-Huntsville 60: Defending Class 6A state champion Mountain Brook made a statement in its quest to return to the Final Four, downing Lee-Huntsville.

Mountain Brook will play Grissom in the 6A boys final Friday at 10:40 a.m. Grissom beat Woodlawn 50-41 on Tuesday's second semifinal.

Mountain Brook was led by Ben Shearer's 18 points. Patrick Keim added 14, Jack Kline 12, Tawarren Grant 11 and Alex Peters 10. Jaden Thomas scored 12 points for Lee-Huntsville, while Tony Reynolds added 11 and Gerron Scissum and Aaron King each had 10.

"That was our first time seeing those guys, but I think it was a much-anticipated game and a good one for the fans," Mountain Brook coach Bucky McMillan said. "I'm really proud of the way our players played.

"Our three things we always talk about doing and always want to do is make sure we're the hardest-playing team, the hardest-working team, the most unselfish team and make sure we're playing with no fear. When our players do that, everything takes care of itself."

Mountain Brook took over slowly, after leading 16-13 entering the second quarter. The Spartans (31-3) outscored Lee by five points in second quarter and then overwhelmed the Generals (25-6) to put the game out of reach in the third, taking a 50-33 lead into the fourth.
