Prep basketball: Four area tournaments pushed back a day

The Class 4A, Area 10 girls basketball tournament has been postponed to Friday.

Anniston High athletics director Eddie Bullock said Area 10 has a revised schedule for Friday, which includes both boys and girls games.

At 3:30 p.m., Cleburne County girls will face Munford, followed by the same two schools playing in a boys game at 5 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., Anniston's girls will face Lincoln at 6:30 p.m., followed by Anniston's boys vs. Lincoln at 8.

The Class 6A, Area 9 girls tournament at Gadsden City has been postponed, too, according to Oxford athletics director Larry Davidson.

Gadsden City is also hosting the boys Area 9 tournament, and all opening games will be played Friday.

Gadsden City and Pell City will play at 3 p.m., followed by Oxford vs. Clay-Chalkville at 4:30. At 6 p.m., Gadsden City's boys will face Pell City. Oxford's boys will meet Clay-Chalkville at 8.

The Class 1A, Area 12 girls basketball tournament also has been pushed back a day, according to Jacksonville Christian boys coach Scott Morgan.

Morgan said host Ragland High dismissed its students at 2 p.m. because of possible bad weather on the way.

Games will be made up Friday.

Ragland, the top seed in the area, will face Sacred Heart at 5 p.m. and Faith Christian and Jacksonville Christian will follow at 6:30.

Woodland girls coach Larry Strain said the Class 2A, Area 10 tournament will be played Friday.

Ranburne will face Pleasant Valley at 6 p.m., followed by Woodland vs. Ohatchee at 7:30.

The AHSAA is reporting the following area tournaments also have been postponed to Friday:

Class 3A, Area 05

Class 3A, Area 06

Class 3A, Area 07
