The 33-year-old suspect has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse, a felony, according to a police report.
According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, the abuse had taken place in a hotel room in Indiana, in a friend’s Oxford home, and in a foreign country, where the suspect had been serving as a missionary.
Because Anniston police took the initial report, they were able to work with the district attorney’s investigators to make a quick arrest, local prosecutors said Monday.
The suspect was arrested after he told a friend with whom he had been staying that he had been molesting his daughter, who is now 6, the captain said.
According to George, the friend told another person about the abuse and that person reported the suspect to Anniston police.
The suspect was interviewed by investigators after he returned from his mission trip on Saturday, according to George. The captain said the suspect admitted to the abuse during the interview.
The suspect was released on a $15,000 bond from the Anniston City Jail on Sunday, according to a jail worker. He is set to appear in court March 13, according to a police report.
