Re “Weighing sites” (News article, Jan.10):

Please don’t take our Jacksonville elementary students away from the rich learning laboratory surrounding the existing school site. Its proximity offers walking field trips to any number of stations within that laboratory, each with a teacher ready to engage the students in the learning process.

Old is not always bad, so perhaps the architect also has skill in refurbishing a good “old.” If so, the rich laboratory will continue to be available to our young learners. When I see a teacher with his or her students walking down the sidewalk to one of the stations, I smile with the knowledge that they are taking advantage of what the town center offers.
