Prep sports roundup: Ragland girls, Hokes Bluff boys win; Weaver wrestlers dominate

Kailey Echols had 21 points, eight rebounds and nine steals as Ragland beat Saks 49-33 in girls basketball Saturday.

Belle McKinney added 15 points for Ragland (11-2).

For Saks, Tayler Teague had eight points.

Ragland doesn’t play again until Jan. 7 against Sacred Heart.

Ranburne 65, Cleburne County 51: Jessie Ralston had 23 points for Ranburne (6-5) as she made 9 of 12 foul shots. Indiana Morgan added 12 points and made 6 of 7 free throws.

Alyssa Smith added nine points and seven rebounds, and Haley Wilson pitched in eight points and 10 rebounds.

For Cleburne County, Alisa Norton had 15 points.

Boys

Hokes Bluff 56, Pleasant Valley 40:
Josh Collier and Isaac Haas each had 12 points to pace Hokes Bluff.

For Pleasant Valley, Hunter Carr scored 12 points, and Matthew Parker added 11. Pleasant Valley will play again Friday in the Glencoe Christmas tournament.

Wrestling

Weaver won the Dora Duals tournament, winning five matches on the day. The Bearcats beat Dora 54-30, J.B. Pennington 66-18, Sumiton Christian 61-17, and Fultondale 45-36.

Five Weaver wrestlers won all five of their matches: Wil Mizic at 138 pounds, Jacob Howard at 145 pounds, Logan Johnson at 152 pounds, Jermaine Carmichael at 170 pounds, and Macklin Crook at 285 pounds.

Weaver (21-1) will wrestle again Saturday at the Hartselle tournament.
