Police Tuesday were investigating a robbery that occurred Monday night at the Samco gas station at 5130 McClellan Blvd. No one was injured in the robbery but money was stolen, according to a police report.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said the robbery happened around 6:30 p.m. An employee of the gas station told police that a male suspect came in and demanded money. According to Sparks, the suspect wore clothing that hid his face and hands.

The sergeant said the suspect acted as though he had a weapon on him during the robbery, but did not brandish one.

The suspect took $262 and two packs of cigarettes before leaving the gas station, according to a police report.

Efforts to reach the gas station’s owner Tuesday were unsuccessful.

Sparks said Tuesday morning that investigators were reviewing video surveillance of the incident with Samco employees. Any suspect could face felony charges of first-degree robbery, according to a police report.
