Strain leads 2A Woodland past 6A Opelika

OPELIKA ­— Leah Strain scored a team-high 28 points, and defending Class 2A champion Woodland beat 6A Opelika 70-68 on the road Monday.

Shanna Strain added 17 points, and Jaide Walker scored 14.

Woodland (7-0) will play at Bowdon (Ga.) today.

Ohatchee 44, JCA 42: Calley Compton hit two free throws with seven seconds left to tie it, but JCA fell on a last-second shot. Compton finished with nine points.

Joeley Cupp led JCA with 17 points, and Elysabeth Morales pulled down 12 rebounds as JCA fell to 4-4.

JCA will play host to Georgia School for the Deaf on Tuesday.

Fort Payne 54, Anniston 39: Ki-Yana Bullock scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss for Anniston. The Bulldogs (7-3) willl play at Jacksonville on Thursday.

Boys

Anniston 87, Fort Payne 60:
At Fort Payne, Qua Frazier scored 27 and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Anniston (4-3).

Quint Dobbins added 18 points, DeMarcus Thomas 13 points and five rebounds, Hakeem Ross 12 points and Quin Jackson 10 points

Anniston will play at Jacksonville on Thursday.
