He’s one of 11 Louisville players honored, including senior defensive end Marcus Smith, the league’s defensive player of the year. Seven made the first team.
“I'm truly blessed and honored to represent Louisville as a first-team all-conference selection,” Smith said Wednesday. “It's an unparalleled feeling when all of your hard work pays off and, in turn, is recognized by people outside of the program.
“I'm also extremely proud of my TEN other teammates who received postseason accolades.”
Smith is a third-year starter at Louisville, having made 37 starts after redshirting in 2010. He was a Football Writers Association of America freshman All-American in 2011.
Smith was an honorable-mention All-State pick as a senior at Jacksonville and rated as the nation’s No. 111 offensive-line prospect by ESPN.
