A man was airlifted to a Birmingham hospital with serious injuries Thursday evening after he was struck by a car on Alabama 202 by mile marker 7, according to Sgt. Steven Jarrett with the Alabama State Troopers.

Jarrett said in an email statement that the State Trooper post in Jacksonville received a call from the Calhoun County 911 District around 6:10 p.m., informing them of an incident involving a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified by Jarrett as Terry Frederick Savage Jr., of Anniston, was in the intensive care unit at UAB Hospital Friday afternoon, according to a hospital worker.

The male driver, identified as Jason Wood of Jacksonville, did not have any injuries, according to Jarrett.

A spokeswoman with the Calhoun County 911 District said she did not have further information about the accident Friday afternoon.

Jarrett said information about the accident was not available Friday afternoon.
