Anniston UDC attends annual convention

The 112-year-old General William H. Forney Anniston UDC chapter recently attended the 118th annual Alabama United Daughters of the Confederacy convention held in Florence. The John H. Forney district is made up of seven chapters in the northern region of which four chapters are more than 100 years old. The 100-year-old chapters include Anniston’s General William H. Forney; Jacksonville’s General John H. Forney; Guntersville’s Marshall Boys and Fort Payne’s DeKalb. Other chapters in this district include Gadsden’s Etowah; Oxford’s Confederate Dames and Childersburg’s Kymulga.

Awards received this year for work in UDC objectives were Standard of Excellence Honor Roll award; Confederate Flag Use award and a Seth Cook Wounded Warrior project certificate. The Forney district received the Jean Coniff Roberts trophy and Mrs. Idly King Sorsby trophy.
