A modest obituary appeared in last Thursday’s edition of this paper for James L. Williams. This was fitting for this wonderful unassuming man who contributed so much but never sought the limelight he so richly deserved.

Some of us were fortunate enough to be associated with Jim in two of his avid pursuits: the First United Methodist Church in Anniston and the Anniston Kiwanis Club. In both instances, Jim could always be counted on when things had to get done. When he spoke up to make a point or give us the background story, everyone listened, and we were better for it.

Jim will be missed, but his example is one we should all try to copy. The best way to honor Jim’s memory is to serve our community and our Lord.
