Raiders head coach Danna Bryant was “real proud” of her girls.
“We have quite a bit of young ones,” she said. “We’ve had to work on communicating and talking more. Those are some things that showed tonight.”
The first set was never in doubt. The Raiders never trailed and at one point led Ohatchee by 11. The second set was a different story.
“I told our girls they needed to have more heart, more pride, be more scrappy and outplay their opponent,” Ohatchee coach Rachael Pruitt said.
Unfortunately for Ohatchee, the Indians couldn't overcome a strong Pleasant Valley effort.
The teams traded the lead 10 times. On the 10th lead change, the Raiders went on a 5-0 run that put the set out of reach.
The final set was just as thrilling as the second. The lead changed hands 13 times. After Pleasant Valley pulled away late and held a 24-18 lead, Ohatchee scored seven unanswered points to pull ahead. The Raiders tied the set again before winning the match.
