Oxford's Lance Evans shot a 3-over-par 75 on the TPC Stadium Course in LaQuinta, Calif., Sunday and stands three shots off the lead at the Golf Channel Am Tour Championship at PGA West.

Evans' round consisted of three birdies and six bogeys.

Evans went into the tournament with a sore knee. He struggled with his ball-striking, hitting eight fairways and seven greens, but he made seven putts from 10 feet or farther.

"Played bad, just putted well," he said. "The knee is hurting, but I work through it."

Brian Katrek, host of the PGA Tour Nerwork's daily "Teed Off" program, leads the Championship Flight after shooting 72.

The event continues through Wednesday.

"The knee will hold up," Evans said. "It's not an excuse. Just motivation."
