Now we are saying the Assad regime has used sarin gas against Syrians. Of course, the facts are all classified to protect the source, which could only be Israel. President Assad has declared he did not do this attack. Many believe this attack with a prohibited weapon was a “false flag” attack to bring America into the struggle since President Obama had listed a gas attack as an event that would generate American military action.
Bashar al-Assad is being characterized as an evil demon. I find this a strange characterization. He is physician who was trained in England and married a beautiful English woman, and they have several children. It would be totally out of character for this man to use a prohibited weapon against civilians in a conflict he is winning already. Assad is not a Saddam Hussein or a Qaddafi-type dictator. To portray him as such is bad judgment on the part of our secretary of state.
What if Syria sends anti-ship missiles to our ships launching these attacks? What if the Syrian Air Force attacks our ships? What if Syria attacks Israel? We are then entering another war we cannot afford, and the American people do not want. It is time to forget the Arab Spring before it destroys our own country. Congress is about to act with little or no real information about this Syrian gas attack: only a big promotion exercise for a new war.
