Quarles began her career with the U.S. Army Chemical School Joint Service Integration Group (JSIG) in 1996 and was hired by retired Lt. Col. Walt Studdard, a Jacksonville State University graduate and JSU ROTC commissioned officer. For several years she has been secretary to the McClellan Chapter of the Chemical Corps Regimental Association (CCRA). In this capacity she has supported many fund raising activities that support deployed U.S. Army soldier’s world-wide and the Wounded Warrior project. She is also instrumental in the CCRA activities that support the retired veterans who live in the Calhoun and surrounding counties, along with assisted living, nursing home facilities and local charities.
Carol Ann Watson is the spouse of retired Maj. Gen. Gerald Watson, the former Fort McClellan post commander. Maj. Gen. Watson and Carol Ann Watson are respected lifetime members of the Chemical Corps. The award was named in honor of Carol Ann Watson for her support to the Chemical Corps and soldier’s stationed around the world.
