Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson today said three men arrested on attempted burglary charges Monday morning were trying to break into an Anniston apartment.

The men, identified by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page as Quinn Brown, 34; Demetrius Young, 33; and Quintoyree Gladden, 24, were seen pulling into a driveway in a black Honda Civic on Kelly Lynn Drive in Anniston after midnight, according to the sheriff’s office.

Amerson said a woman who lived at the residence called 911 after she saw two of the men putting on ski masks. According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, the woman turned on her outside light, and the men returned to their vehicle and left.

“People with ski masks and blue jeans is cause for alarm in Alabama,” the sheriff said.

Amerson said the woman’s boyfriend followed the men in his own car until deputies arrived to stop the vehicle.

The sheriff said deputies recovered two ski masks, a crowbar and a handgun from the vehicle.

Amerson said deputies later discovered the men planned on robbing another apartment nearby and not the residence where they had parked.

Brown, Young and Gladden were in the Calhoun County Jail today. They were arrested on charges of first-degree attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools and receiving stolen property in the second degree, according to the sheriff.
