Police this morning had one suspect in custody and were searching for another involved in an Anniston shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said an 81-year-old woman told police she heard gunshots around noon outside her home on the 1500 block of Dooley Avenue. George said a bullet went through a window and hit the woman’s refrigerator. The fridge and window were valued at $1,550, according to a police report.

No one reported any injuries.

Police recovered one .45 caliber round at the scene, George said.

One suspect, Kelly Tatum, 53, of Anniston, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on the 2500 block of Paul Street around 45 minutes after the shooting occurred. George said Tatum was armed with a shotgun, which led police to believe another suspect was also involved in the shooting. Tatum was charged with robbing a man and a woman of $1,000 at gunpoint Sunday night on the 1700 block of Cobb Avenue. Charges for Tatum’s involvement in Wednesday’s shooting were pending, George said this morning.

Any suspects could be charged with felony discharging a firearm into a vehicle.
