A man was reportedly assaulted by his daughter’s boyfriend and another man while playing cards early this morning.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the 48-year-old man was playing cards just after midnight with his daughter, her boyfriend and another man at an acquaintance’s house on the 1900 block of Harris Avenue. His daughter and her boyfriend got into an argument, George said, and when the victim tried to stop it he was hit in the head with an unknown metal object.

The boyfriend and the acquaintance proceeded to hit and kick the victim until he lost consciousness, George said.

When the victim woke up he told police he couldn’t see out of his left eye, the captain said.

The victim walked to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, George said, and was treated for cuts on both arms, a cut on the back of his head and a cut above his left eye.

George said police were still investigating the incident this morning.

Any suspects could be charged with felony second-degree assault.
