Another school year is complete and congratulations are in order to the many dedicated people of our Calhoun County Schools.

The Calhoun County School system has traditionally been one of the best county systems in the state, and with the leadership of Superintendent Joe Dyar and Deputy Superintendents Karen Winn and Ed Roe, heads are turning all across the state of Alabama and our school system is once again a leader.

We’re thinking out of the box, gaining the capability to tailor education to each student’s needs and abilities instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, and our leaders are reaching out to the area’s business and industry to see how they can better train students to be ready for new, high-tech jobs. In time, this cutting-edge approach will keep young people in our area and will help to grow and solidify our local economy.

Together with a supportive board, the administration, faculty and support personnel are making a real difference in people’s lives. I urge you to join me in spreading the word that our Calhoun County Schools are making us proud.
