Police arrested an Anniston woman Tuesday on felony charges of fraudulent leasing of rental property.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, 25-year-old Marshay McCloud rented two Sony flat-screen TVs from the Anniston Rent-A-Center on Quintard Avenue between March and April. The cost of the TVs was $2,730, George said.

George said when McCloud first missed her payments Rent-A-Center called her cell phone. According to George, the cell phone number McCloud gave did not belong to her. The address McCloud gave Rent-A-Center was not hers, either, George said.

According to George, police found McCloud at a residence in Pelham Heights by using a public record search service and running a credit check.

Police also charged McCloud with making harassing communications, a misdemeanor. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in April.

According to George, McCloud harassed another woman at the Shell gas station on Quintard Avenue. McCloud made life-threatening remarks and struck the other woman’s windshield with her hand, George said.

McCloud paid her $10,000 bond and was released Tuesday afternoon.
