In the first round of playoffs in soccer, the JHS girls had an easy time beating Lincoln 11-1 while the boys lost a close 1-0 match to Susan Moore.

The Lady Eagles, behind senior Sharon Osterbind, scored quickly and easily in their 11-1 mercy-rule shortened game against Lincoln.

Osterbind scored four goals with ease, and also dished out three assists. Osterbind controlled the tempo of the game and played havoc with the Lincoln defenders.

The Lady Eagles spred out the wealth as far as goals were concerned with Kaila Green, Jordan Terry, Elizabeth Poe, Ashton Wells, Virginia Poe, Kenyatta Ervin and Abby Cockrell each finding the net.

Virginia Poe also had four assists to go along with Osterbind’s three assists; Elizabeth Poe added two assists and Kenyatta Ervin one assist.

Jacksonville, 15-2-1 and ranked No. 5 in Class 1-4A, will take on Donoho in round two of the playoffs on Tuesday at 5:30.

In a rain-shortened game with Susan Moore, the JHS boys team had an early goal scored against them on a free kick that barely got past Eagle goalie Bryan Manuel and from there the game was deadlocked 1-0 until it was called with nine minutes remaining in the game due to heavy rain and lightning.

The Golden Eagles season comes to an end with an 8-7 record. JHS was 4-0 in area play.

The game was the last for senior goalie Manuel and central defender Tyler Pass.
