One man charged with robbing an Oxford gas station was still in jail Thursday while police continue to search for two remaining suspects.

Benjamin Kyle Liveoak, 29, of Weogufka, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery, a felony, as well as attempting to elude a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Oxford police Lt. L.G. Owens said Liveoak and three other suspects robbed the Samco gas station at 9629 U.S. 78 in Oxford around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When Oxford police arrived at the scene, the suspects were still in the parking lot, Owens said. Two men and a woman were able to evade police, but Liveoak was apprehended after a short foot chase, the lieutenant said.

Owens said police are still waiting for a business near the gas station to release surveillance footage to identify the other suspects.

Owens said no money was taken from the gas station and the suspects were armed with a crowbar. No injuries were reported during the incident, the lieutenant said.

Owens said a man likely to be involved in the robbery was arrested Wednesday by the Sylacauga Police Department on unrelated charges.

Owens said Thursday that the incident is still under investigation.

Liveoak was in the Oxford City Jail as of Thursday afternoon, Owens said. Bond and a court date have not been set.
