A disclaimer: This Hot Blast is about journalism and advertising sales, not swimsuit models and, well, anything else that would get me in trouble.

Those of us in the business of daily journalism are constantly assessing what works and what doesn't in today's world. Journalism is changing at a rapid pace, and some media outlets haven't survived. The Star, thankfully, is doing well and producing great journalism.

Needless to say, outfits as large as Sports Illustrated have a different take on things -- but at the heart of it, SI's editors and managers want to create quality content that readers love and advertisers embrace.

Well, SI's swimsuit issue apparently is just that.

As this story illustrates, times are extremely good for SI's swimsuit editors. The long-standing edition is uber-popular, and advertisers -- the straw that stirs all of journalism's fiscal drinks -- are wholeheartedly embracing it. Every time critics of the swimsuit issue write about its demise, the edition seems to record even higher sales and advertising revenues.

At risk of having readers of The Star think I'm droning on too long about bikinis, I'll stop there. Enjoy the reading.
