That number included 1,399 in the Anniston/Oxford area; 1,073 in Jacksonville; and 2,591 in Heflin.
“Our folks are working terribly hard and we’re getting people back on as quickly as possible,” Alabama Power spokeswoman Alyson Tucker said.
She said officials with the company aim to have power fully restored in eastern Alabama by 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
Monday’s severe wind knocked out power for 95,000 customers in the company’s eastern division – a third more than in the aftermath of the tornado outbreak of April 2011, Tucker said.
