Anniston police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole $2,950 in household items and committed $800 in damage Wednesday while burglarizing a local home.

The home, on the 1900 block Moore Avenue, was burglarized sometime between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks.

The homeowner, a 50-year-old Anniston man, told police he left his house in the early morning hours and returned later that evening to find the door forced open and many of his belongings gone.

The suspect stole a stove, refrigerator, two Panasonic televisions, a foot locker, Army uniforms, combat boots, clothing, and a Dell laptop, according to a police report.

The suspect is likely to be charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, according to a police report.

Police are investigating the incident and had no suspects Thursday.
