Anniston's America's First Federal Credit Union is moving to Oxford.
Karen DeLuca, branch operations support manager for America's First, said the credit union will close its Anniston branch on South Quintard and move operations to a new facility at the Oxford Commons shopping center some time this summer.
"They've already started pouring the concrete footing," DeLuca said of the new branch.
Oxford Commons is the site of the Publix Super Market, which opened last week.
DeLuca said all of the Anniston branch's eight employees will be moved to the Oxford location.
"We do hope to add more employees the bigger we get," she said.
DeLuca said the move should not be a problem for current America's First customers.
"We don't think it will be inconvenient because it will be so close to the other branch," DeLuca said.
DeLuca said the Oxford branch will feature new services that are currently not offered at the Anniston location, including safe deposit boxes and four drive-through lanes instead of just two. The Oxford branch also will be significantly larger than the Anniston one, however, DeLuca did not know the exact size of the new location.
"And the other building is just quite old," DeLuca said.
She added that relocating to a popular shopping complex will give the credit union a chance to gain new customers.
"We're hoping to build up more business and let people know we're here," she said.
America's First Federal Credit Union has 18 branches across the state.
CVS Pharmacy set for summer opening at Quintard Mall
Shoppers will soon be able to pick up their prescription drugs at Quintard Mall.
Amy Stone, general manager of Quintard Mall, said a CVS Pharmacy is set to open in June or July at the mall if there are no delays. The CVS is currently under construction outside the mall near Firestone Tires.
A separate company, Quintard Mall LLC, was formed last month solely for the CVS construction and management of the property, Stone said.
