Police on Monday were searching for a suspect who allegedly fired gunshots at an Anniston man Friday morning.

Sgt. Chris Sparks said the 41-year-old victim was walking near 15th Street and Dooley Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Friday when he saw a man he knew. Sparks said the suspect threatened to harm the victim during their conversation. The victim continued walking and the suspect drove past him several times in his vehicle, Sparks said.

The victim told police that while he was walking on 15th Street and McDaniel Avenue the suspect fired two gunshots at him, the sergeant said. No injuries were reported.

“The victim hid in the woods waiting for police to arrive,” Sparks said.

The suspect fled in his vehicle and police have not located him, Sparks said. The incident could lead to a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment, according to a police report. However, Sparks said “the charges could be upgraded after a review from the District Attorney’s Office.”
