Police charged a woman Thursday with stabbing her younger sister with a knife in their home.

Anniston police were called Thursday to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, where the mother of a 14-year-old girl reported her daughter had been stabbed by her sister after a verbal altercation, police Sgt. Chris Sparks said.

Talisha Lashay Cunningham, 23, of Anniston, was arrested at her home on the 1600 block of Charlotte Avenue on Thursday at 5:15 and charged with second-degree domestic violence, according to a police report.

Sparks said Cunningham picked up a large steak knife and stabbed her sister in a bicep during the argument.

Police recovered the knife and documented evidence of a stabbing at the home, Sparks said.

The victim received several stitches at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries, the sergeant said.

Cunningham was in the Calhoun County Jail on Friday morning, Sparks said.

State records show bond for Cunningham is set at $7,500. She is scheduled to appear in court April 8.
