The magic that surrounded the 2007 season for Pleasant Valley will have to wait one more week before it gets started for the Raiders. Ohatchee, led by first-year coach Chad Cochran, held off the Raiders and picked up the season-opening win 14-12.
While the Indians did lead the entire way, the Raiders made two big challenges for the win in the final quarter.
Ohatchee turned away a Pleasant Valley ball carrier at the one to keep the Raiders out of the end zone for what would have been the game-tying two-point conversion. Pleasant Valley also missed on its the two-point conversion on its first touchdown.
Pleasant Valley kicked off to Ohatchee and got the stop, giving it the ball as the seconds on the clock were ticking down. Ohatchee then got a stop of its own as they tipped a pass and intercepted it to run the final minute-and-a-half off the clock.
Just like other teams all across the state, Pleasant Valley will begin region play this week. The Raiders will be at home again this week, playing Tarrant.
Tarrant is also winless after get beat 35-0 by Midfield last week.
