OHATCHEE — Whether it was the distractions of Homecoming, the daunting Lineville defense or just a bad offensive performance, Ohatchee could not get out of its own way in a 28-0 loss Friday night.
The Indians turned the ball over four times — directly leading to 21 Lineville points — which nullified a strong defensive performance by the home team. Ohatchee held Lineville to two first downs and 33 total yards in the first half, but trailed 14-0.
After the teams managed only one first down apiece on the first four drives of the game, Ohatchee made its first major miscue.
The Indians based their offensive attack on running the football, largely behind Koty Bryant, and did not appear equipped to handle long yardage situations.

An ill-advised pass by Chris Brown on third-and-16 was easily intercepted by Jarvis Battle, who ran 37 yards into the end zone without being touched.
Ohatchee (1-5, 0-4 Class 2A, Region 5) turned it over again on its next possession, this time via a fumble, and Lineville was set up with great field position at the Indians' 10-yard line.
After Ohatchee stuffed a run on first down, Demetrius Lindsey hit Shondedric Boyd for a touchdown.
"We got turnovers and scored points off of it," Lineville coach Steve Giddens said. "There were mistakes by both teams in the game, but I think the difference was we were able to get some points off ours."
Bryant and the Ohatchee offense did begin to move the ball in the second quarter, as they drove almost 60 yards and took over eight minutes off the clock.
But they were stopped a couple of yards shy on fourth-and-8 from inside the Lineville 20, and they never seriously threatened again.
Bryant was the Ohatchee offense in this game, as he accounted for 92 rushing yards. The rest of the team had 15 yards rushing and 18 yards passing.
"Our defense is getting a lot better," Giddens said.
"We're getting a lot of people around the football. The defense is going to have to carry us. However far we go is going to be however far the defense carries us."
The Aggies lost a fumble and were penalized over 100 yards, but came out smelling like a rose because of the string of Ohatchee mistakes.
Things only got worse for Ohatchee in the second half as Lineville began to find some holes in the Indians' defense.
The offense continued to shoot itself in the foot, as they lost a fumble on their first possession of the second half.
The Aggies again converted, as Demetrius Lindsey hit Christopher Lindsey on a 35-yard gain that set up the Aggies at the 12-yard line.
A couple of plays later Demetrius Lindsey scored from a yard out. He added another touchdown in the fourth quarter that produced the final margin.
Lineville (2-4, 2-2 Class 2A Region 5) looks to increase its playoff hopes next week as it hosts Ranburne, while Ohatchee travels to Lanett.
