Lions earn OT victory over C'burg
MUNFORD — Munford picked up its third win in as many chances on Thursday night, knocking off Childersburg 23-15 in overtime.
The Lions (3-3, 2-2) take on Anniston next week in a pivotal Class 4A, Region 4 showdown.
Montrel Parker scored from 9 yards out for the touchdown and then added the two-point conversion.
The Lions got touchdowns from Petey Mosley on a 15-yard run and a 43-yard Drakkar Holcombe-to-Parker pass. Mosley finished with 108 yards on 22 carries.
The bulk of the scoring in the game was done in the final quarter, as Munford held an 8-0 lead heading into the fourth.
Briarwood Chr. 37, Talladega 7
BIRMINGHAM — Briarwood Christian defeated the Talladega Tigers in front of a capacity crowd on homecoming at Lions Pride stadium.
The offense for Briarwood (5-1, 3-1) piled up 37 first-half points and scored on all but two of its possessions in the half. The game was well within hand late in the second quarter when the second string offense replaced the starters.

Piedmont tunes up for tourney
PIEDMONT — In their last tune-up before Saturday's Calhoun County tournament, the Wellborn Panthers fell to Piedmont, losing 27-25, 25-22, 26-24.
For Piedmont (20-21), Raven Prater and Janissa McKinney each had six kills and Paige Smith had three aces.
For Wellborn (25-19), Latoya Ellington had 13 blocks, six kills and five digs; Briana Gardner had six aces, five kills and eight digs; Jessica Gardner had six assists, six digs and two kills, and Shelby Perry added three aces, two kills and 11 assists.
Donoho falls
Frances Barber led the way with 26 kills, 14 digs and seven blocks on the night, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons fell to Holy Spirit and Jefferson Christian.
Jefferson Christian won 25-20, 28-26, while Holy Spirit won 26-28, 25-12, 15-9. For Donoho (20-23), Maggie Morgan had 16 digs and two aces, and Katie Swinford had 20 digs and seven kills.
Pleasant Valley rolls
Pleasant Valley swept matches from Oxford, winning 25-18, 25-22, and Weaver, winning 25-4, 25-11, on Thursday. The Raiders (21-14) will play Piedmont on Saturday.
Ohatchee sweeps tri-match
ALEXANDRIA — Ohatchee defeated Alexandria (25-22, 25-14) then beat White Plains (25-10, 25-13). In the other match, Alexandria defeated White Plains 25-22. 25-20.
Jasmine Crook had 21 kills, Laneshia Anderson added 27 kills, Perri Bryant had 70 assists, Kristin Teague had 10 kills on the night for Ohatchee (31-7).
For Alexandria (23-10), Monica Williams had 23 kills and 13 digs. Morgan Hopkins added 20 assists, and Taylor Warren added seven kills.
