JCA falls to Cedar Bluff, beats Westbrook Christian
CEDAR BLUFF — JCA defeated Westbrook Christian 25-22, 25-13, but fell to the host Eagles 25-23, 25-19.
Katy Miller had eight kills and 10 digs on the night. Lindsey Huggins had seven kills and Chelsea Smith added 14 digs, Kendra Whitehead had 10 assists.
JCA (14-7) plays Saturday in the county tournament.
Bobcats beat Wedowee
WOODLAND — Woodland defeated Randolph County 27-25, 25-16, 25-16.
Courtney Strain led the way with 11 kills, Morgan Edwards added eight kills, three aces and five digs, Katlin Edmondson had seven aces, Haley Rollins had eight digs and Ashley Burgess had four digs.
The Bobcats (15-1) next play Monday at Horseshoe Bend.
Falcons sweep tri-match
Donoho swept a non-area tri-match, first beating Weaver (25-12, 25-17) and then Anniston (25-7, 25-3).
On the night, Gilda Osborn had eight aces and five kills. Sally Barber had eight aces and six kills, Frances Barber added 11 kills, seven aces and 13 assists.
Donoho (20-21) next hosts Jefferson Christian and Holy Spirit on Thursday. It will be Donoho's Senior Night.
Piedmont splits
WHITE PLAINS — Piedmont lost to Gadsden City (18-25, 26-24, 15-11) but rebounded to beat the Wildcats (25-22, 26-28, 26-24, 25-14).
Brittany Strott led the Bulldogs with 25 assists and kills, Hilarie Hincy added 14 assists, Janissa McKinney and Raven Prater each had 15 kills, Catie Hightower had 22 digs and Jaleca Johnson added seven aces.
Piedmont (19-22) will play three matches at Pleasant Valley today.
Wellborn still perfect
TARRANT — Wellborn beat Altamont (25-15, 25-15, 25-21) and Tarrant (25-8, 25-11, 25-8) for an area sweep.
With the wins, Wellborn (27-18) will host their area tournament.
Latoya Ellington had five aces, 10 blocks and 32 kills. Briana Gardner had 14 aces, eight kills and seven digs. Kayla Shears had five aces, three blocks, two kills and three digs. Megan Hubbard had eight aces, eight kills and three digs. Shelby Perry added four aces, two kills and 25 assists. Jessica Gardner had 12 assists and four digs.
Wellborn plays at Piedmont on Thursday.
Jacksonville defeated
PELHAM — Jacksonville split a doubleheader, beating Spain Park (25-16, 25-23) and falling to 6A's No. 1 team Pelham (25-23, 25-15).
Elizabth Neisler had 14 kills, eight blocks and an ace. Taylor Palmer had 14 kills and five blocks, Laura Risse added 10 kills, Megan Cabrer had 33 assists and Leah Bell had 10 digs.
Jacksonville (29-2) plays today at Briarwood.
