NE Regional: Butler 75, Talladega 71

JACKSONVILLE — Talladega led by as many as 17 points twice in the third quarter, only to see that lead slip away on Wednesday at the Northeast Regional at Jacksonville State University.
O’Bryan Davis’ layup with 3:45 left in the third quarter gave Talladega its largest lead at 53-36. However, the Tigers (27-3) did not score for the remainder of the quarter as Butler cut the lead to just three points to enter the final quarter. Davis led all scorers with 20 points. Teammates Darnell Tuck and Tae Keith added 16 and 13 points, respectively. Keith, who picked up three fouls in the final quarter and fouled out with 1:45 remaining, also had a game-high 13 rebounds. Trevor Lacey led four Butler players in double figures with 18 points. Ralph Eason added 17 points, Jermaireous Chandler had 15 and Ryan Ervin 11. |
