NE Regional: Talladega 64, J.O. Johnson 34

JACKSONVILLE — Talladega raced out to a 17-4 first-quarter lead and never looked back to cruise to the victory on Wednesday at the Northeast Regional Tournament at Jacksonville State University.

Talladega advances to take on Scottsboro, which defeated Anniston 58-46.

A fast-break basket by Jameica Rivers with 22 seconds left in the third quarter gave the Lady Tigers (28-2) their largest lead of the game at 53-21, 32 points.

Rivers led all scorers with 17 points. Jamie Keith added 14 points. Kieth also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

No player for J.O. Johnson, which advanced to the regionals with only a 12-14 record, reached double figures.

J.O. Johnson committed 36 turnovers and shot only 26.7 percent for the game.
