JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Guard Justin Tubbs is transferring to East Tennessee State after leaving Alabama and will have two years of eligibility left once he sits out the upcoming season.

ETSU coach Murry Bartow announced the transfer Monday. The 6-foot-3, 188-pound Tubbs from Trussville, was an Academic All-Southeastern Conference pick during his first two seasons with Alabama. He played in 19 games and averaged 7.3 minutes, 3.1 points and 1.2 rebounds for the Crimson Tide as a sophomore, down from 9.6 minutes as a freshman.

Tubbs said he feels the coaching staff had a plan for his future.
