Hearing now set

TUSCALOOSA — Former Alabama football player Jimmy Johns faces an August 12 preliminary hearing on felony drug charges.

Johns is charged with five counts of selling cocaine and one count of possession of a controlled substance. His attorneys requested the hearing, and Johns is required to attend.

Only the prosecution must present evidence at the hearing.

Johns is a former running back who was trying to convert to linebacker. He was thrown off the team and has withdrawn from school.
