The eighth annual Alabama Chocolate Festival will take place Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. in the Rainbow Plaza parking lot on Rainbow Drive.

There is no charge for admission to this family-friendly event, which features musical entertainment, carnival rides for kids, more than 100 arts and crafts and food vendors and, of course, chocolate.

Back by popular demand is the 5-foot chocolate fountain, chocolate milk-chugging contest, and the Chocolate Taste-off, where local chefs compete to see who has the best chocolate dish around. (Stick around after the judging to sample the entries.)

Beatles cover band The Return will perform, as will rising country star Kate Falcon.
