Like the comical, fictional character Don Quixote, Republicans in the House have attacked with tiny lances their personal windmill, the Affordable Healthcare Act. And just like the laughable Quixote, they lost. Forty-one times. Forty-one times in five years.

I am no mathematician, but I’m sure this is a massive waste of taxpayer money. To add insult to injury during that five years, not a single proposal from these same Quixotesque characters to pass a jobs or employment bill, nor a bill to fix the banking deregulation that created the economic collapse of 2008. Not one. Not one in five years.

Alabama’s Nick Saban 0-41 … fired. Georgia’s Mark Richt 0-41 … fired. The Atlanta Falcons’ Mike Smith 0-41 … fired. House Republicans 0-41 … ? In the real world … fired. In their Quixotesque world …

… Let’s hold the economy hostage! Eight hundred and eighty thousand people unemployed in the blink of an eye. And the ripple effect: 500,000-plus tanks of gas not sold, 500,000-plus stores not being shopped in, 500,000-plus restaurants not serving a meal, thousands upon thousands not taking their vacation to that national park they love, daycare classes missing children, etc.

American workers deserve much, much better than this.
